Better Day BP

Racine, Wisconsin, USA

The Better Day BP is the first gas station to use LED lighting for all exterior lighting. Rather than install typical HID lighting, the merchant worked with Beta LED of Sturtevant, Wisconsin, to use more-efficient, more-attractive LED lighting. The fixture manufacturer installed LED lighting in the station's 3,600 square-foot canopy (shown at right), parking lot and even in its car-wash bays.

In the canopy, Beta LED installed 24 of its Edge lighting fixtures, each containing six light bars, mounted 15 feet above the ground. Upon completion, the lights delivered 9,228 lumens, giving the site a bright, clean appearance that attracts customers. (In the photo at right, compare this station to the competitor across the street, dimly shown in the background.)

Beta LED anticipates that the merchant will save 62% in energy compared to the HID canopy lighting typically used in similar installations. The fixtures will require little or no maintenance, and LED lighting is more environmentally friendly than most alternatives.
